Additional Information Department Name: Foundation Job Status: 40 hrs., eligible for benefits Shift: This is a full-time, expempt position Job Overview The Senior Director of Southern Colorado will primarily be responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors at the major, lead and principal gift levels primarily in the southern Colorado region. This individual will also be responsible for soliciting and stewarding corporations and foundations in partnership with those business units. Oversee direct reports in the Colorado Springs office and ensure alignment with operating procedures and protocols. Must be an experienced leader, a strong contributor to a team environment and collaborative by nature. Must be able to travel around and outside of Colorado. Serve in a leadership role at the foundation and with our hospital and volunteer partners. Qualified candidates will successfully represent our Foundation Core Values: Mission-Driven, Donor-First, Integrity, Accountability, Expertise, and Leadership. Responsibilities Essential Functions: - Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of 100 to 200 major, leadership, principal gift prospects/donors and foundation and corporate prospects/donors. - Develop and implement yearly written plans and strategies, with regular reports on progress and activity - Maintain complete donor records in CRM - Maintain consistent phone and written contacts and visits with donors and prospects, using these personal contact times to identify, cultivate, and solicit, and to steward these relationships - Excellence in meeting deadlines and advance planning - Excellence in maintaining priorities - Successful solicitation of prospects/donors; as well as successful solicitation of foundation and corporate donors in partnership with those business units. - Provide leadership, direction, and management for the Colorado Springs office and partnership for fundraising strategies within the southern Colorado region. Achieve annual revenue goals for the southern Colorado region. - Provide clear objectives and performance measures for the southern Colorado staff and initiatives - Develop and implement written annual plan and budget in partnership with appropriate business unit leaders across the Foundation - Manage the implementation of fundraising strategies in the southern Colorado region, developing strong working relationships with critical volunteers, community and foundation leaders - Highly positive feedback from volunteer, physician and hospital constituencies; excellent liaison - Meticulous, innovative and effective management of volunteers - Excellent management of Colorado Springs direct reports/office - Work with Senior Vice Presidents, Philanthropy Directors, Foundation and Corporate partners to achieve a high level of fundraising sophistication resulting in revenue generation for the Hospital. - Assist as needed in the programmatic development for all programs in Philanthropy as needed - Assist as needed in strategic planning as needed - Staff committees as assigned - Willingness to take on new responsibilities - Continue to develop knowledge of Children's Colorado's programs and their impact - Serve as a senior role model for Foundation staff - Serve as a role model and mentor for field staff within the Colorado Springs office and across the Foundation. - Demonstrate an excellent 'can do' attitude - Demonstrate a commitment to and success in inter and intra-team relationships and cooperation - Support programs such as planned giving, family giving, CMNH, signature events, and other Foundation priorities. - Demonstrate familiarity with planned giving and different recognition societies - Demonstrate integration and support of other business unit programs with cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors - Serve as a member of the Fundraising Cabinet. - Responsible for hitting (and ideally exceeding) all revenue goals for the Foundation; Will maintain focus and the Do Less Better objective as overtly as possible - Entrepreneurial in the quest for growth and ongoing enhancement - Strategically integrated to maximize opportunities for revenue generation - Alignment with colleagues across the Foundation - Role model and high performing individual (i.e. each member will hold a portfolio and have personal revenue goals as well as programmatic revenue goals) - Present as a leader for the Foundation and for colleagues - Managerial(ly) courageous - Focused on 'OTOG' first - A strong motivator for direct reports and colleagues, and especially for Field Staff - Metrics driven and will regularly hold direct reports and each other accountable for performance and for timely use of CRM as our fundraising tool - Respectful of partners within and beyond fundraising cabinet and proactively pursue alignment with Strategy Team and Leadership Cabinet - Build strong reciprocal relationships with Leadership Cabinet members, by also serving on that Cabinet, especially with those who are responsible for non-revenue generating business units - Other duties as assigned. - Assist the President & CEO and/or Senior Vice President as needed on special projects Other Information Core Competencies include: - Leadership and Navigation - Advanced Fundraiser - Proven Community Leader - Relationship Management - Learning Orientation Qualifications - Eight years minimum fundraising experience with five years of direct solicitation experience preferably in a health care system or a not-for-profit organization. Outside experience may be considered. Candidate should have a proven and successful track record of securing major gifts. Strong familiarity with the Colorado Springs community and beyond is preferred. Relationships with local, regional and national organizations preferred. - Five years management experience preferred, although discretion may be applied to considering overall experience for this position. Experience managing volunteers preferred. Ability to work with a wide variety of partners, including high-level hospital leadership, and navigate a complex institution preferred. - The individual must strongly believe in the mission of a hospital dedicated to promoting the health and well-being of all children, training specialists in pediatric medicine, advancing knowledge about the causes of and treatments for pediatric diseases, and advocating on behalf of all children. - The position requires strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to articulate accurately and persuasively the themes and issues associated with a major academic pediatric hospital. The individual must be able to effectively collaborate with colleagues inside and outside Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation. - Multi-tasked manner of thinking. Self-motivated and directed. Excellent management skills, high motivation, and a proven ability to produce results in a highly dynamic environment. S/he must have an energy level that ensures high quality productivity on a timely basis. Attentiveness to detail. Self-confidence leading to creativity and flexibility. Extremely strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding the judgment, discretion, confidentiality, patience and understanding necessary for dealing effectively with a diverse body of volunteers, donors, physicians, professional colleagues and staff. Independence, reliability, accuracy, and expedience in addressing his or her duties. The ability to handle pressure, to meet deadlines, and to do so with a minimum of supervision or instruction. A strong team orientation toward both internal and external constituencies. S/he must be independent, accurate, reliable, and a fast worker. Ability to learn new software. - Word processing and spreadsheet knowledge required. A strong command of the English language with ability to compose, edit and proof written language and to communicate effectively verbally. Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities essential. - Serve as a member of the Fundraising Cabinet and Leadership Cabinet Physical Requirements Ability to Perform Essential Functions of the Job Body Movement - Will frequently stand/walk for 6-8 hours per day. - Will frequently use hands while keyboarding and writing. - Will frequently sit for 2-4 hours per day while accessing computer, talking on the telephone, and while attending meetings. - Back and Upper Body (lifting and carrying) - Will occasionally lift/force exerted up to 15 pounds.
