Hours per week: 38, eligible for benefits

Shift: This position will be 38 hours per week Monday - Friday with the expectation of working 4-5 days per week to meet the needs of the research studies.
Job Overview

The Clinical Research Nurse coordinates and provides direct patient care, performs ongoing assessments, delivers patient education, and documents in accordance with standards and regulatory guidelines. The Research Nurse assists in ensuring the integrity and quality of clinical research activities are maintained and conducted in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) policies and procedures.

  • g.) Adult - > 18yrs to 65yrs.

    Essential Functions

    An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

    • Anticipates and responds to changes in patient outcomes in the provision of care.
    • Communicates and advocates research values and expresses needs to the CHCO community.
    • Facilitates communication, clinical decision making, error prevention, and care coordination throughout protocol implementation.
    • Collects, monitors, and reports collaboratively with study team on quality of care outcomes and measures; and provides input into the continuous evaluation and improvement of internal quality and safety processes, procedures, and performance measures.
    • Ensures compliance with clinical and research policies, procedures, and best practices in order to minimize the risk of harm to patients and providers and maintain fidelity to the research protocol.
    • Researches, identifies, and implements evidence based practice to improve the quality of care provided to patients/families and research study staff.
    • Acts as a liaison for simple studies or with a mentor for more complicated studies.
    • Provides training and mentoring to new team members.
    • Accurately provides research procedure, time, and billing information to administrative personnel in a timely manner.
    • Participates in departmental committees and projects as assigned.

        Guidelines: Guidelines are generally numerous, well established, and directly applicable to the work assignment. Work assignment and desired results are explained by general oral or written instructions.

        Supervision Received: Under normal supervision, within a standardized work situation, the employee performs duties common to the line of work without close supervision or detailed instruction. Work product is subject to continual review.

        • EDUCATION - Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
        • EXPERIENCE - One year of clinical nursing experience.
        • CERTIFICATION(S) - BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire; and Advanced Life Support certification.
        • LICENSURE - Registered Nurse License (RN).
