Additional Information Department: Talent Development This position is based out of the Village Pavillion on the Anschutz campus in Aurora Hours per week: 40, eligible for benefits Shift: Full time position Job Overview Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) is seeking an Instructional Designer with 3+ years' experience. This individual will design and develop online courses with a focus on hospital-specific regulatory content for all team members. Their duties will include working with subject matter experts to define objectives, assess learner comprehension, and provide guidance on best eLearning principles and methodologies. They should possess excellent communication skills, project management experience, and the ability to meet deadlines for course publication. This position is responsible for designing multimedia courses, web-based training programs and online learning modules for all levels of end-users. Works with subject matter experts, customers and trainers to identify training needs and translate identified needs into curriculum design. Instructional Design - Apply instructional design and project management knowledge (ADDIE, SAM) to support the mission of CHCO - Work to understand and address common concerns and challenges faced by CHCO audiences - Lead efforts to create content that utilizes continuous improvement methodologies, quality instructional approaches, and empowers data-driven decision-making - Works with complex source material and within detailed development cycles, keeping both the process and the content highly accessible, streamlined, and focused for collaborators and stakeholders Project Management - Manages and prioritizes large, complex, deadline-driven, and high-impact instructional design projects using industry standards and best practices in project management - Influence stakeholders to meet key deadlines while maintaining relationships Course development - Designs, develops and implements electronic instructional materials (e.g., animations, interactive elements, simulations, video, etc.) using content authoring and management tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, HTML5, SCORM, JavaScript, etc.) - Designs and implements modern instructional design and engaging user experiences while incorporating ADA Section 508 guidelines - Consults with leadership/subject matter experts on the use of research-based instructional strategies (e.g. gamification, interactive applications, animations, information visualization, etc.) - Comfortable with Office 365 - Compose/edit written content to ensure clarity and consistency throughout deliverables - Familiar with graphic design/layout best practices and editing tools to create a positive learner experience Responsibilities POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE - No direct patient care. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform. - Designs and creates training programs, training courses workshops, multimedia courses, computer based training (CBT), web-based training programs, online learning modules, and on-line help for all levels of team members. Develops course schedules and writes and adapts training materials. - Collaborates with management, subject matter experts and end users to conduct needs assessment and identify training needs. - Gathers information about needed behavior change. - Creates/Consults on learning objectives and assessments to ensure effective learning outcomes. - Publishes and manages electronic content including online materials and assessments. Creates and maintains all print and online instructional material. Develops and manages materials and versioning. - Collects and compiles assessment data to measure training effectiveness and identifies areas for improvement. - Manages applicable software licenses and renewals. - Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with assigned subject matter experts. Other Information SCOPE AND LEVEL - Guidelines: Possesses knowledge of and applies the fundamental concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field of specialization. - Complexity: Duties and tasks are varied and somewhat complex, but usually involve independence and responsibility. Procedures, methods and techniques to carry out work may not be well defined, requiring greater analysis. - Decision Making: Has some latitude in making most decisions. Decisions and recommendations are made after contemplative analysis and with independent judgment and ingenuity. May escalate the most complex and important decisions to a higher level employee, supervisor and/or manager. - Communication: Communicates explanatory and/or interpretive information relative to the organization and/or own function with team members, peers, management, clients and in limited cases, the public. Uses some discretion and independent judgment when information is exchanged, gathered and/or presented. Defers to higher level team members and/or management in some situations. - Supervision Received: Works under some supervision, with a high degree of independence, conferring with higher level employees, supervisor and/or manager as needed. Qualifications - EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree is required. - EXPERIENCE - Minimum of three (3) years of related experience is required. - EQUIVALENCY - Combination of post-high school education, job related certification and/or related experience equivalent to seven (7) years may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.
